"Jelly babies" is one of those searches where most people picture a specific brand — usually Bassett's — without necessarily checking who actually makes the bag in front of them. Worth being upfront: we don't stock Bassett's. Here's exactly which jelly babies we do stock, and where they come from instead.
Haribo Jelly Babies Tub, 510g
The standard Haribo take on the shape: soft fruit-gum babies in Haribo's usual flavour spread, sold here as a 510g tub — a manageable size for a desk, a car glovebox or a household sweet jar rather than a full catering order. Currently in stock. See the Haribo Jelly Babies Tub 510g.
Haribo Jelly Babies Share Bags, 140g and 160g (Case of 12)
The same Haribo jelly babies in share-bag format, sold by the case of 12 rather than individually — the format built for stocking a shop shelf, a vending round or a multipack giveaway rather than a single household. Both sizes are currently in stock. See the 160g case of 12 and the 140g case of 12.
Haribo Mini Jelly Babies, 3kg
A scaled-down piece size in a proper bulk bag — the option for pick 'n' mix counters, party bowls or anywhere you want more pieces per handful rather than fewer, bigger ones. Currently in stock. See the Haribo Mini Jelly Babies 3kg.
Haribo Little Jelly Babies Bags, 60g (Case of 20)
A pocket-money-sized bag version, sold by the case of 20. This line is currently out of stock — we're not going to pretend otherwise. Check the product page for when it's back.
Barratt Jelly Babies, 3kg
Barratt is Haribo's most direct competitor on this shape in the UK bulk market, and we do carry their 3kg bag as an alternative to the Haribo mini bag above — though it's currently out of stock. See the Barratt Jelly Babies 3kg for restock status.
Millions Mini Jelly Babies Sour Mix, 100g
Millions is better known for its tiny hard-shelled sweets, but this is their jelly baby entry — a sour-coated mini version rather than a straight sweet one, in a 100g bag. Currently out of stock. See the product page.
Kingsway Mega Value Vegan Jelly Blue Babies, 2.5kg
The one genuinely different entry on this list: a blue-coloured jelly baby, and the only one of our four brands actually labelled vegan rather than the standard gelatine recipe. It's a 2.5kg bulk bag aimed at the same catering and pick 'n' mix use as the Haribo mini bag, currently out of stock. See the product page, and our broader Vegan collection if a gelatine-free jelly sweet is what you're actually after.
Where the shape actually comes from
Jelly babies started life in 1918 at Bassett's of Sheffield as "Peace Babies," released to mark the end of the First World War. Wartime sugar shortages took them off shelves again, and when Bassett's brought the shape back in 1953 — the same year as the Queen's coronation — it was renamed "Jelly Babies," the name that stuck. None of that history belongs to Haribo, Barratt, Millions or Kingsway; they're all later entrants making their own version of a shape Bassett's originated and still, under the Maynards Bassetts name, sells today. If you want the specific halal status of Bassett's own gelatine sourcing, that's a different product to what's covered here — see our separate piece on whether Jelly Babies are halal, which deals with the Bassett's recipe specifically.
How jelly babies fit into the wider Haribo range
Jelly Babies are one small part of what Haribo actually makes — for the full picture of every Haribo line we stock, from Starmix to Tangfastics to the more obscure imports, see our complete Haribo range guide. The full jelly baby line-up, alongside the rest of our Haribo stock, sits in the Haribo collection.
Frequently asked questions
Do you stock Bassett's Jelly Babies?
No. Bassett's (now Maynards Bassetts) is the original name, but we stock Haribo, Barratt, Millions and Kingsway instead.
What jelly baby brands do you actually stock?
Haribo, Barratt, Millions and Kingsway, across tub, share bag, mini and vegan bulk formats.
Are your jelly babies vegan?
Only the Kingsway Mega Value Vegan Jelly Blue Babies. The Haribo, Barratt and Millions lines use standard gelatine.
Are Haribo or Barratt jelly babies halal?
We haven't seen halal certification published for these, so treat them as not halal unless stated on the packaging. The well-known 2016 gelatine-labelling change applies to Bassett's, which we don't stock.
Why are some of your jelly baby lines out of stock?
Bulk lines move between supplier deliveries. The Haribo tub, both share bag sizes and the Haribo Mini 3kg bag are usually in stock; the Little Jelly Babies cases, Barratt 3kg, Millions sour mix and Kingsway vegan bag are currently out.
What's the difference between mini and regular jelly babies?
Same recipe, smaller mould — mini versions suit bulk pick 'n' mix and catering, where more, smaller pieces per kilo works better than fewer, larger ones.
