Prestonpans is an East Lothian town of around 7,000 people on the Firth of Forth, a few miles east of Edinburgh, with a High Street locals recall as once being "full of wee shops."
An industrial history built on sugar and salt
Prestonpans has an unusually dense industrial past for its size: coal mining, salt panning (which gives the town its name), the world's first commercial production of sulphuric acid, a sugar refinery, soap works, a brewery, a distillery, glassworks and potteries all operated here at various points. At one stage the town is said to have had 16 breweries — all now closed.
The Battle of Prestonpans
The town is also known for the 1745 Battle of Prestonpans, an early Jacobite victory, marked today by a battlefield memorial and a local mural trail depicting the town's history.
What's on the High Street now
We couldn't find a documented sweet shop currently trading on Prestonpans High Street — if that's changed, we'd rather update this than guess. A sugar-refining and brewing town this size doesn't have an obvious sweet shop to point to today.
Why delivery fills the gap
Supreme Sweets doesn't have a shop in Prestonpans — we're online-only, delivering UK-wide. Without a dedicated sweet shop locally, ordering online is the simplest way to get sweets to a Prestonpans address, from a single pick 'n' mix bag to a full trade case.
