Collection: Retro Sweets

The old-school sweet-shop line-up — rhubarb & custard, jelly babies, wine gums, Pontefract cakes and foam bananas. Sweets that have earned their place.

Wine gums come from several of the big British sweet brands, but not all of them — despite frequent searches for a Taveners or Lions wine gum, that's not a pairing we've found or stock. What we do stock: Haribo Wine Gums Share Bags 160g (sold as a case of 12), Bonds Wine Gums Bag 120g, and Maynards' own version in two sizes — Maynards Wine Gums Candy Carton 300g and Maynards Bassetts Wine Gums Candy 110g. If a particular brand's wine gum isn't listed here, it's because we haven't found one to stock, not an oversight.

Foam sweets are a category of their own — soft, marshmallow-like sweets that hold their shape better than a jelly gum. Kingsway Foam Mushrooms 2kg cover the classic mushroom shape, Haribo Bananas Bag 1.5kg are the foam banana itself — plain foam, not chocolate-coated, since we don't stock a chocolate-covered version — and Haribo Milkshakes Share Bags 140g bring the same foam texture to strawberry, vanilla and banana milkshake flavours. Separately, for bulk chocolate lollies rather than foam sweets, Kinnerton Milk Chocolate Lollipops 22g — Case of 27 are sold as a ready-to-sell wholesale case of individually wrapped lollipops.

A few more retro extras worth knowing about: Kingsway ABC Letters 2kg bring back the alphabet-shaped fruit gum novelty, and Kingsway Fruit Salad Gums 3kg — plus the smaller Kingsway Mini Fruit Salad 3kg — cover the classic fruit salad gum, distinct from Barratt's Fruit Salad chews, which we don't currently stock. For a giant strawberry-shaped gummy, it's Haribo Giant Strawbs 3kg we stock rather than a Kingsway version — Kingsway doesn't make a giant strawberry gummy in our range, so Haribo is the one to look for.
