Sour Patch Kids

Sour Patch Kids started out in Ontario, Canada in the late 1970s as "Mars Men" — a space-themed candy timed to the era's UFO craze. When Cabbage Patch Kids dolls took off in the early 1980s, the candy was reshaped and renamed Sour Patch Kids, and the tagline stuck: sour sugar coating first, sweet gummy centre after.
