Skittles launched in the UK in 1974, decades before the brand became the global name it is now — production didn't move to the US until 1982, and the "Taste the Rainbow" slogan wasn't coined until 1994. The name itself borrows from the British pub game of skittles, though nobody's ever fully explained the connection. The original five flavours — lemon, lime, orange, strawberry and blackcurrant — are still the base of the range today.
