Heroes wasn't Cadbury's first move into the mixed-miniatures category — it was a response to one. Mars launched Celebrations, its own tub of miniature Mars-family bars, in 1997, and Cadbury followed two years later in September 1999 with Cadbury's Miniature Heroes, backed by a £4.8 million advertising campaign built around the tagline "The people magnet" and sponsorship of Coronation Street. The name was trimmed to simply Cadbury Heroes in 2002, and the tub has stayed a Christmas and everyday-sharing staple ever since, built around miniature versions of bars like Twirl, Wispa and Fudge rather than one single Cadbury recipe.
The format hasn't stayed perfectly static, either — supply issues in 2022 briefly meant some packs shipped with two full-size Twirls standing in for the usual miniatures, a reminder that even a long-running, well-established tub isn't immune to production hiccups.
Heroes vs Celebrations
Because the format is so similar, it's easy to assume Heroes and Celebrations are just two names for the same thing.
