Dip Dab is one of the sweets everyone over a certain age remembers by the ritual rather than the name — dip, lick, repeat — and it's a real product with a long history, even though it's not one we currently carry.
What it actually is
A Dip Dab pairs a strawberry-flavoured lolly with a small separate sachet of lemon-flavoured sherbet, the two sealed together in one 23g pack. The idea is simple: dip the lolly into the sherbet, lick it off, and repeat until both run out, which is a different mechanic to a straight sherbet-filled sweet like a Sherbet Fountain.
A genuinely old Barratt product
Sources disagree slightly on the exact year, but the most consistent accounts place the Dip Dab's introduction in the 1940s, which puts it not far behind Barratt's Sherbet Fountain, launched in 1925. Ownership of the Barratt name has changed hands more than once since, including a period when Barratt-branded sweets were sold under the Candyland name instead, before Tangerine Confectionery revived Barratt and brought Dip Dab back under its original branding, later adding a sour variant to the range.
What we actually stock
We don't currently stock Dip Dab. If it's the sherbet side of the appeal you're after, we do stock Swizzels Refreshers 3kg and the Swizzels Refreshers Original Lemon Flavour Chew Bar, both built around that same classic fizzy sherbet flavour.
