Haribo Rotella: The Fruit Gum Wheel Explained

Most fruit gums are flat, straight and done in one bite. Rotella does something different: the same long ribbon of gum, but wound up into a tight wheel that makes unrolling it half the point.

A ribbon, not a shape

Where a lot of novelty gummies get their appeal from a mould — a bear, a snake, a turtle — Rotella's novelty is structural. It's a single long strip of fruit-flavoured gum coiled into a disc, so the "shape" only really reveals itself once you start unrolling it. Eat it in one go or work through the coil piece by piece — both are normal ways to get through one.

Not the same sweet everywhere

Rotella isn't a single fixed recipe across every market Haribo sells in. In some countries it's sold as a liquorice-flavoured roll; in others, including the UK lines we carry, it's a fruit-flavoured rolled gum. If you've seen conflicting descriptions online, that's most likely why — it genuinely varies by country and product line rather than being a simple case of someone getting it wrong.

What we stock

Our Haribo Rotella Tub 800g holds around 100 wheels, a convenient size for serving by the piece. For bulk, Haribo Rotella Bag 1kg gives you the same fruit-flavoured wheels for a pick 'n' mix display or a well-stocked sweet drawer. Both contain beeswax, so they're not suitable for vegans, though neither contains gelatine.
