How Many Cards Are in a Pokémon Booster Pack?

It's a simple question with a surprisingly consistent answer across recent expansions.

The standard pack breakdown

A modern Pokémon TCG booster pack contains 10 cards, plus a Basic Energy card and a Pokémon TCG Live code card tucked in alongside them. Of the 10 cards, the mix typically runs through several Commons, a handful of Uncommons, and at least one card of Rare rarity or above — every pack is guaranteed that minimum.

Where the guarantee sits

The Rare-or-better guarantee is a floor, not a target. Most packs land right on it with a single Rare, while Double Rares, Illustration Rares and the rarer secret rares are considerably less frequent. That's the entire basis of pull-rate discussion in the community — a guaranteed slot doesn't mean an even chance of hitting the best card in it.

Scaling up

A Booster Bundle packages 6 of these packs together with no extras. A full Booster Box (also called a Booster Display) contains 36 packs — the format serious collectors buy when they want the best statistical shot at a specific card, since more packs means more chances at the guaranteed Rare-or-better slot landing on something valuable.

We stock both formats for the current Mega Evolution sets: Pitch Black Booster Bundle and Chaos Rising Booster Box.
