Banchory's population reached around 7,580 in the 2022 census, making it one of the larger towns in Aberdeenshire and the usual gateway into Royal Deeside.
The Falls of Feugh
The thing most visitors actually come to Banchory for isn't on the High Street at all. A short walk from the town centre, the Water of Feugh tumbles into the River Dee at the Falls of Feugh, where salmon leap upstream in winter and spring and a footbridge built right above the falls gives a proper view of it. Scolty Hill, with its monument to General William Burnett and a 71-step viewing tower, overlooks the whole scene from 299 metres up.
No sweet shop, and we won't pretend there is
We haven't found a dedicated sweet shop trading on Banchory's High Street, past or present, so it's not something we're going to claim exists. The High Street itself is a proper working town centre — a chemist, a Co-op, a run of independent shops — just not one built around confectionery.
Why "sweets near me" in Banchory still points to a delivery
Without a specialist shop to call on, ordering online and having it delivered is the more consistent route for anything from a party bag to a trade case, wherever in Banchory or wider Royal Deeside you're based.
