St Bridget's Kirk
Overlooking the Firth of Forth, the ruins of St Bridget's Kirk date back to the 13th century, standing on the site of the old Dalgety estate long before the modern housing around it was built. It's one of the few reminders that this stretch of coast was settled centuries before the present town.
The beach's unusual recent history
Part of Dalgety Bay's shoreline sits on land once used to bury debris from military aircraft dismantled after the Second World War, and radium from old luminous instrument dials was found washing up on the beach from 1990 onwards. A long clean-up by the Ministry of Defence and SEPA has since removed thousands of particles, and the beach has reopened to the public.
