From a handful of houses to a market village
By the time of the 1837 Topographical Dictionary of Ireland, Kesh was recorded as a village in the parish of Magheraculmoney with just 28 houses and 139 inhabitants, a constabulary station and regular fairs. It grew steadily afterwards, helped from 1866 by a railway station on the Enniskillen and Bundoran line, which ran until 1957.
