A blind mathematician who became Lucasian Professor
Among its pupils was Nicholas Saunderson, a blind mathematician in the late 17th century who left Penistone for Cambridge, where he eventually held the Lucasian Professorship of Mathematics — the same chair once held by Isaac Newton.
