Rothes is a Speyside village of around 1,200 people on the A941 south of Elgin, better known for whisky than confectionery — it's home to four working distilleries within walking distance of each other.
Glen Grant, Glenrothes, Speyburn and Glen Spey
Glen Grant, the oldest, started distilling in 1840, drawn by water from the surrounding hills, local barley, and the nearby port of Garmouth. Glenrothes, Speyburn and Glen Spey followed, and a fifth distillery, Caperdonich, operated until it was mothballed in 2002 and later demolished. Glen Grant's visitor centre and Victorian gardens, laid out behind the distillery in the late 19th century, are the village's main draw for visitors; Glenrothes, by contrast, isn't open to the public.
No sweet shop in the village
We couldn't find a dedicated sweet shop currently trading in Rothes, and for a village this size, built around distilling rather than retail, that tracks. An 1887 account described the village's "good hotels and shops" alongside its three distilleries of the time, but that's history, not a current business we can point to.
Why delivery covers the gap
Supreme Sweets doesn't have a shop in Rothes, or anywhere — we're online-only, UK-wide. For sweets in Rothes, ordering online is the simplest way to get a pick 'n' mix bag, a bulk tub or a trade case to a village with no sweet shop of its own.
