What Are Price-Marked Packs (PMP), and Why Do They Matter?

Look closely at a bag of Bonds Mint Humbugs and you'll see "£1.25" printed right on the front. That's a price-marked pack (PMP) — a format used across the British sweet aisle for decades.

Why manufacturers print the price

PMPs are designed to signal value directly to the shopper at the shelf edge, without them needing to compare against other brands. For manufacturers, it's a way to keep an impulse-buy price point consistent across every shop that stocks it.

Does it affect what we charge?

We price independently based on our own trade costs, so our shelf price won't always match the number printed on the pack — but it gives you a useful reference point for what the product is generally expected to cost.
